Draft · Last updated October 6, 2026

Draft, under legal review. This is Yott’s working draft. A Florida attorney is reviewing it, and the final version will replace it here. Until then it describes how Yott works today and applies to your use of Yott as written. Figures and some terms may change in the final version. Yott LLC’s Florida registration is pending state approval.

1. What this covers

This policy explains what personal information Yott LLC (“Yott”, “we”) collects on getyott.com, how we use it, who sees it, and the choices you have. Yott is for adults; see section 9.

2. What we collect

If you send a trip request: your name, email address, the phone number you give (optional), the date, party size, trip and message you enter, and the messages you exchange with the captain on Yott.

If you join the waitlist: your email address, your name if you give it, where you want to fish, the kinds of trips you’re interested in, how often you book a charter, and how you heard about Yott.

If you are a captain: your sign-in email; your name, business name, phone number, home port and the details and photos you put on your page; your trips, prices, availability and areas; copies of the documents you upload for review (U.S. Coast Guard credential and its number, medical certificate date, certificate of insurance and policy number, Florida charter license, federal permits) and the dates and numbers you enter from them; how you heard about Yott and who invited you; and your messages with anglers.

If you turn on text messages (when that feature is available): your mobile number, the consent wording you agreed to, the time, and the internet address and browser you used, kept as proof of consent.

Collected automatically: which pages are visited and from which link or referring site, with a random session code that is not tied to your name; the usual server logs our hosting provider keeps (such as internet address and browser type); and the result of a bot check on some forms. Yott uses no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics, and does not collect your location.

3. How we use it

  • To run Yott: deliver trip requests to captains, carry messages between anglers and captains, sign captains in, and show captain pages.
  • To review captains’ documents before a page goes live, and to re-check them as they expire.
  • To email you about your requests, your account and your documents; if you joined the waitlist, to tell you when captains in your area are on Yott; and to email captains on our outreach list (who can unsubscribe at any time).
  • To text you, only if you turned texts on and confirmed your number.
  • To prevent fraud, duplicate accounts, abuse of the forms, and attempts to take trips off Yott.
  • To see which pages and links work, in aggregate.
  • To meet legal obligations.

We use AI tools (Anthropic’s Claude) to help operate Yott, for example to draft replies, review documents and keep our records. Those tools process only what the task needs, under their provider’s terms, and a person at Yott remains responsible for decisions about your account.

4. Who sees what

Between anglers and captains. A captain sees an angler’s first name and last initial, the request details and the messages; never the angler’s email address or phone number. An angler sees what the captain has published on his or her page. Phone numbers, email addresses, links and social handles typed into messages or captain pages are hidden from the other side.

Public. A live captain page is public: business name, captain name, home port, boat, trips, prices, photos and the captain’s own terms. Documents and their numbers are never public; the page shows only which permits are on file.

Checking documents. To verify a captain’s Coast Guard credential, Yott submits the captain’s last name and Mariner Reference Number to the U.S. Coast Guard’s National Maritime Center verification service, which emails the result to Yott. Yott may also look up federal fishing permits in NOAA’s public permit records.

Service providers that process information for us under their own confidentiality and security terms: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage), Resend (email delivery), Cloudflare (domain services and bot checks), Google Workspace (our mailbox), Anthropic (AI tools, above) and, when those features launch, Twilio (text messages) and Stripe (payments and payouts; Stripe would hold card and bank details, not Yott).

Legal and safety. We may disclose information to comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our terms, or protect the rights or safety of anyone.

Business transfers. If Yott is sold or merged, information may transfer with it, under this policy.

We do not sell personal information, and we don’t share it with advertisers.

5. Cookies

Yott uses a sign-in cookie for captains, a short-lived cookie to remember which link you arrived from, a cookie for the bot check on some forms, and a browser session code for page-visit counts. There are no advertising cookies.

6. How long we keep it

We keep account and listing information while the account is active and for as long afterward as we need it for legal, tax, dispute and fraud-prevention reasons. Captain documents are kept while the captain is listed and for the period needed to show what Yott reviewed and when. Trip requests and messages are kept so both sides and Yott have a record of what was agreed. Text-message consent records are kept as long as the law requires proof of consent. We then delete or anonymize the information.

7. Security

Captain documents are stored in private storage and opened only through short-lived links, by Yott, for review. Access to personal information is limited to what each part of Yott needs. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will notify you as Florida law requires.

8. Your choices

  • Captains can see and change their details on their dashboard, and ask us to close their account.
  • Anyone on our outreach list or the waitlist can unsubscribe with the link in any of those emails or at getyott.com/unsubscribe.
  • Reply STOP to any Yott text to stop texts.
  • Email jonathan@getyott.com to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it. We’ll verify it’s you and answer within the time the law allows. Some information has to be kept, for example records of a document review or of consent.

9. Children

Yott is for adults 18 and older. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we don’t create accounts for minors. If a trip includes a minor, the adult who arranges it is responsible for the minor and for any information shared about them. If we learn we have collected a child’s information, we will delete it.

10. Other sites

Captain pages and Yott’s emails may link to other sites, such as a map. Their privacy practices are their own.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. We’ll post the new version here with a new date and, where the law requires, tell you another way as well.
